First: Public Trust

I have asked for information from the county and the information I received was incomplete and not up to date.  I have found that when you want to know something of public information, you have to go several places hoping you got the right place.  My goal would be to link all information into one place, one stop.

Second:  Integrity

I have a problem with people in the county misusing county credit cards.  There needs to be controls and policies set and followed so there won’t be any questions on misuse of county funds.  My goal would be to limit the reasons to use the county credit card and put into place where the purchasing department buys everything for the county.  Everything major purchase that we spend for the county needs to be approved.  This would limit the abuse on the credit cards..

Third:  Responsibility

I will take responsibility for the actions in my department and make sure that it is running efficiently and treating people with respect.  There are missing records that I’m aware of and that is why the audit report reflects on lack of policies and procedures and being over on the budget.

Fourth:  Accountability

There are policies and procedures that are not being followed.  I have several copies of the county audit reports and it shows every year that policies and procedures for recording money and receipts are not being followed and not following state procedures.  The head of departments and elected officials are not watching their departments close enough.  The budget isn’t even being followed.  There are several departments over spending.  This needs to change. I will make sure that we get the most out of our tax dollars.  Without accountability, effectiveness is lost.

Fifth:  Check and Balances

I promise you that I will make it my goal to make sure that the check and balances are intact.  There is a lack of this at this time. I’m finding that nobody is watching the different departments or things like overspending and misuse of credit cards wouldn’t be happening.

I’m here to work for you and the county to make sure the five principles I just talked about our followed.
